It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I remember as a child asking my mom whether or not people who were in the army and killed other people went to Heaven or not. She couldn't really answer. I'm not the type of person to get grossed out easily, and to be honest, I'd gladly kill somebody if they were evil, I wouldn't hesitate at all. That might sound psychotic but I'd be very joyous to know I killed somebody threatening, as long as it was for the right reasons/somebodies life was in danger, but, I wouldn't join the army. I'm indebted to my country, true, but, I don't have to get shot/shoot someone to pay it back. |

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Like I said, I do not feel this way, just you to know that. But what I mean is that if you do indeed sacrifice your life to save another, some people could see that as arrogant in that you are the person putting yourself forward to sacrifice your life. It could possibly come across as you seeing yourself as better, a person with bigger morals than some people. As in "look at that guy thinking he's all that". Again I can't stress enough that I do not feel this way, and the majority of people won't, but there are some people that think like that. Also, sacrificing your life to save someone else is not always totally selfless. Again I'm not saying you feel this way, but some people may sacrifice their life thinking "hey I could be a hero if I save this guys life" and they'll feel good about themselves, even if they do die. |

"Then you've got the chance to do better next time." "Next time?" "Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is." | |

I've never in my life heard of somebody giving their life, making the ultimate sacrifice, and being deemed as arrogant. Anything but, in my opinion. Where did you hear that? |

I can't recall any time I've heard it, but I must have at some time in order for me to have thought that some people think like this. Or something along those lines anyway. I'll drop this point because I'm obviously not getting it across the way I intended and am not explaining it well enough. |
